Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Home Row is built to need as little of your data as possible.

1. What happens to what you type

The passage you're tested on and every character you type are processed entirely in your browser's memory. None of it is ever transmitted, uploaded, or stored on a server. Refreshing or closing the tab discards everything instantly.

2. Cookies and analytics

Home Row uses Google Analytics to understand overall traffic patterns — which pages get visited and roughly how many people use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. It has no access to your typing, your results, or your personal best, since none of that is ever sent to us in the first place. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking site-wide using Google's browser add-on, or block it with most ad-blocking extensions. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google Analytics handles data.

3. Accounts and data storage

There is no account system. Home Row saves your personal best WPM for each test length directly in your browser (using a standard feature called local storage), so it can show you "new personal best" when you beat it. That number never leaves your device — it's not sent to us, not tied to your identity, and clearing your browser data removes it completely.

4. Children's privacy

Home Row is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect information from anyone, of any age, since no personal information is collected at all.

5. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes — like adding analytics or data collection — will be described plainly here.

6. Contact
